WHO WE ARE?

Discovering Youth Association (DYA) is a youth-led organisation committed to creating opportunities for young people to grow personally, socially, and professionally.

We believe that every young person possesses unique talents and unlimited potential. Our role is to provide the environment, support, and opportunities that enable them to discover themselves, build confidence, develop leadership skills, and make meaningful contributions to society.

Through experiential learning, community engagement, outdoor activities, volunteering, and internationally recognised youth programmes, we help young people become capable, resilient, and responsible citizens ready to shape a better future.

One of the major activities of the Association is delivering The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award.

OUR STORY

Discovering Youth Association (DYA) was born from a simple yet powerful belief: every young person has the potential to achieve extraordinary things when given the right opportunities and support.

On 10 June 2019, Auhammad Arshad-Ali founded the Award Centre Adventurous Dragons with the vision of making The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award accessible to young people aged 14 to 24 in Mauritius. As participation grew and the organisation's impact expanded, the need for a stronger and more sustainable structure became evident.

In 2021, with the support of Neeroo Ayush Koomar and Fleche Louis Desire Josue, the organisation was formally registered as an association, ensuring its continuity and strengthening its capacity to serve young people across Mauritius.

As the organisation celebrated its fifth anniversary in 2024, a new chapter began. To better reflect its broader purpose and long-term vision, the association was rebranded as Discovering Youth Association (DYA) — a name that embodies our commitment to helping young people discover who they are, develop their abilities, and realise their limitless possibilities.

Today, DYA continues to create meaningful opportunities for young people through leadership, service, personal development, adventure, and community engagement. Guided by our commitment to excellence and our motto, "Unlocking the Infinite Potential of Young People," we remain dedicated to empowering the next generation to grow, lead, and make a positive impact on society.

Our new identity Discovering Youth Association! This rebranding aligns perfectly with our mission to help young people explore and develop their fullest and infinite potential. Together, we will continue to empower and inspire the youth to achieve their dreams and make a positive impact on the world.

OUR LOGO

The brand new logo of the "Discovering Youth Association" comprises the following elements:

1. Infinity Symbol: At the center of the logo, there is an infinity symbol, representing continuous growth, infinite potential, and ongoing discovery.

2. Letters 'D' and 'A': Inside the loops of the infinity symbol, the letters 'D' (in red) and 'A' (in purple) are positioned. These stand for the name of the organization: Discovering Youth Association.

3. Airplane: Above the infinity symbol, a blue airplane is embedded in the 'Y' (in green), which stands for youth, symbolizing the independence, freedom, exploration, and adventure of young people.

4. Circular Border: The entire logo is encased within a circular border that features a gradient of colors ranging from yellow, green, blue, red, to purple, reflecting the colors of the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award.

Overall, the logo conveys themes of exploration, infinite possibilities, and the vibrant, diverse nature of the youth association. The inclusion of the airplane in the circular border shows that youngsters can travel beyond horizons across the globe.

Meet Our Managing Committee

The Managing Committee (MC) is the governing body of Discovering Youth Association (DYA). It provides strategic leadership and oversight of the Association's operations, finances, governance, and long-term development, ensuring that DYA remains focused on its mission of unlocking the infinite potential of young people.
